After Guan Yu's death, he was gradually deified and respected by the people as "Guan Gong", also known as "Mei Shao Gong". The Qing Dynasty was honored as "God of loyalty and righteousness, God of martial arts, benevolence and bravery to show the great emperor of Guan Sheng", "Wu Sheng" and "Wen Sheng" Confucius. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms respects it as the first of the "five tigers" in Shu, and Mao Zonggang calls it the "Yijue" of the "three absolutes" in Romance. So why are Guan Gong's statues closed-eyed? There is a saying that Guan Gong would kill if he did not open his eyes. During the Three Kingdoms period, Guan Yu chopped Huaxiong with warm wine and drank with his eyes open. When he came back, he squinted.
