武威雷台汉墓发现了中国境内数量最多、阵容气势恢宏的铜车马仪仗俑群，由38匹马，1头牛，14辆战车，17个手持长戟的武士俑和28个奴婢俑组成，而带领这支仪仗队伍的是气势惊人、脚踏飞燕的铜奔马。奔马身后有小吏领队，斧车前导，骑马武士俑护卫，高官要员乘轺车跟随其后。“公出有从骑”，出行车骑数量有严格的等级规定。作为地方官的墓主人显然是僭越，反映出东汉以来地方武装势力增长而出现的群雄割据局面。（铜雕）

说到铜马雕塑，大家首先想到的就是马踏飞燕，马踏飞燕又名“马超龙雀”、“铜奔马”，为东汉青铜器，1969年出土于甘肃省武威雷台墓。东汉时期镇守张掖的军事长官张某及其妻合葬墓中出土，现藏甘肃省博物馆。奔马身高34.5厘米，身长45厘米，宽13厘米。
