民间常以如来、如来佛专指佛教创始者释迦牟尼佛，释尊，即当时的悉达多太子。实际上这称呼是不准确的。如来是佛的德号之一，如来的意思是“无所从来，亦无所去，故名如来”。所以如来与佛，二者只能称其中一种。（铜雕厂）释迦牟尼佛示现成就无上正等正觉后，为令众生解脱苦难，开示悟入佛知见故，以无量的善巧方便开始了49年的弘法事业，十方无量的诸佛、菩萨亦化现于娑婆世界，助兴佛教，救度众生。其中熟知的有观音菩萨、地藏菩萨、普贤菩萨、文殊菩萨、弥勒菩萨等。

Folk Buddhas often refer to Sakyamuni Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, and Sakyamuni Buddha, the then Prince Siddhartha. In fact, the title is inaccurate. The Tathagata is one of Buddha's virtues. The Tathagata means "never having a place to go, so it is called Tathagata". So the Tathagata and Buddha can only be called one of them. Sakyamuni Buddha began 49 years of Dharma promotion with infinite ingenuity and convenience in order to free all living beings from suffering and enlighten them into Buddha's insights. The infinite number of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas also appeared in the Sava world to help revitalize Buddhism and save all living beings. Among them, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Tibetan Bodhisattva, Puxian Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva and Maitreya Bodhisattva are well known.
