佛钟的起源

The Origin of Buddha Bell

在印度佛教中，钟原是用木制的，叫做“犍椎”或“犍稚”。据佛经记载，七月十五，是比丘夏安居圆满而增长戒腊的日子，称为受岁日。于是佛陀就告诉侍者阿难，在露地上速击犍椎，以召集僧众。阿难随即升上讲堂，手持犍椎说：“我今天来击此如来信鼓，凡是如来的弟子们，都应该闻声而普集于此。”从此，钟就成为佛教寺院中具有标志性的重要法器之一了。
